Today I want to share with you a tool you can use to find the number of people who are searching for any term on Google.

The best part is this tool is free, secure and only takes a few minutes to install.

You can see exactly how it looks in action in the following screenshot:

Number of searches for a keyword

You can see the big red arrow which puts to the numbers next to your search term?

In this example I have typed in “marketing agency”.

And the tool is telling us there are:

    1. 2,400 people each month (in Australia) who are searching this exact term
    2. It would cost approximately $9.86 in order to pay for 1 click on Google Ads for this term (Yikes! Anyone advertising would want deep pockets, big profit margins or a killer landing page)

So where does this data come from: it is being pulled by software which creates data out of Google Ads information. With this in mind, it is worth mentioning that it is less accurate for search terms which are noncompetitive.

As an example if we search “marketing agency + (a suburb with a small population)”. Google Ads would say there are 0 monthly searches. This will not be accurate, so you need to combine this with your understanding of your niche.

Where to get the tool?

The tool is called Keyword Surfer and you can download the tool and install it on your browser through the Chrome Browser extension:

Get it here: Keyword Surfer

Whilst we use more sophisticated tools in-house, this is a great tool for you to be able to use yourself in order to get some understanding of how people are searching for your services.

I hope you get value from using this.
